“I Don’t: Violence against Young Girls”

When: Sat., May 4, 6:30 p.m. 2013

Gender-based violence reflects inequities between men and women and compromises the health, dignity, security and autonomy of victims. It encompasses a wide range of human rights violations including the practice of child marriage. The United Nations reports that more than 14-million girls will potentially marry too young this calendar year. At 6:30pm, please join us for a potluck dinner as we share a meal as a community. Then, join Nat Yogachandra (http://natyogachandra.blogspot.com/) as he highlights several countries where child marriage is robbing girls of their childhood and educational opportunities while feeding the vicious cycle of domestic violence and poverty.
