Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery in Maryland and became a conductor on the Underground Railroad. At great risk to herself, she returned to the South numerous times and helped hundreds of slaves to freedom. Speaker Neil Frankel, a retired manager of engineering organizations, is currently writing a book about the slave years in America.
