Special Event: Enjoy a little Medieval Merriment tonight, 5:30 p.m., at Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave.). $40 per person includes wine and beer tasting, as well as grazing station, and a silent auction of more than one hundred items. A prize goes to the best Medieval costume. The event benefits St. Joseph Neighborhood Center. For more info or to register, call 325-5260 or visit sjncenter.org.

Music: New York-based band The Rotaries transcends indie rock’s casual indifference — indifference masked as cool — and instead embraces dreamy tones and textures that border on a kind of pop-symphonic aesthetic. Consequently, the tunes liberate, the beat drives, and the cool is genuine. The equally cool Sports, Cottage Jefferson, and the Rochambros also share the bill. The Rotaries tonight, 8 p.m. at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Ave. $7-$9. bugjar.com.

Art: Check out the Creative Workshop Spring Children's Show at the Memorial Art Gallery (500 University Ave.) today, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free, and the show closes June 8. For more information, call 276-8900 or visit mag.rochester.edu.
