City’s choice: shorts

by

This week we have two back-to-back chances to see locally made short films and animation. Eggwork Productions (headed by Rochester filmmaker and City contributor Matt Ehlers) presents its fourth annual Eggmark night on Sunday, June 20. Not only will Ehlers screen his hysterical, too-short Who's Your Daddy, a pick at both the Sundance and SXSW film festivals, but also his latest, Hole in the Wall. Animatus Studio will give their lascivious, lap-dancing duo, Su and Mo, some room to gyrate when they screen Su & Mo:Lost in Animation. The Lazy Assassin, Finding Hermann, Sharks In The Water, and other shorts will all be shown on June 20 at Montage Grille, 50 Chestnut Street, at 7 p.m. Donations accepted. www.eggwork.com.

The following night, see a crop of New York State shorts at the latest installment of the Emerging Filmmakers Series. The evening will include a 30-minute film by Dawn Zuppelli (co-founder of Rochester Indymedia) called feel the Spearit, a documentary about musician Michael Franti. The other Rochester film is particle valentine by RIT-student Christine Dunn. The Emerging Filmmakers Series is shown on Monday, June 21, at Little Theatres, 240 East Avenue, at 9:30 p.m. Tix: $5. 258-0444, www.little-theatre.com.
