Several candidate forums and debates are scheduled this week in anticipation of the November 3 general election.

The League of Women Voters, the Children’s Agenda’s Interfaith Collaborative, Greece Baptist Church, and the Interfaith Alliance of Rochester are sponsoring a forum for County Legislature districts 4 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. today (Monday, October 19). The districts cover parts of Gates, Greece, and Rochester, and the forum will take place at Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, WROC-TV Channel 8 will air a League of Women Voters-led county executive debate. Republican Cheryl Dinolfo, Democrat Sandy Frankel, and Green Party candidate Rajesh Barnabas will participate.

Roc/ACTS, a multi-faith organization, will hold a public meeting with the county executive candidates at 6 p.m. Thursday at In Christ New Hope Ministries, 155 Pinnacle Road in Henrietta. The forum will focus on expanding child care assistance programs. Dinolfo, Frankel, and Barnabas have all committed to attending, organizers say. BY JEREMY MOULE

The Highland Park Neighborhood Association will hear a presentation from City of Rochester tax assessor Tom Huonker regarding neighborhood property assessment. A citywide reassessment begins in December, and values in the Highland neighborhood are expected to rise, says the HPNA’s newsletter.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at the Olmsted Lodge on Reservoir Street in Highland Park.

On a separate night, the HPNA will hear about the landscape plan for Highland Hospital. The architect putting together the plan will speak to Highland residents from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at the Olmsted Lodge. BY CHRISTINE CARRIE FIEN
