Bronson, Slaughter endorse Frankel

Democratic County Executive candidate Sandy Frankel picked up a couple of high-profile Democratic endorsements today.

House Representative Louise Slaughter and State Assembly member Harry Bronson threw their support behind Frankel this morning, during a press conference announcing the opening of a Frankel campaign office on Lyell Avenue. They emphasized Frankel's experience serving 20 years as Brighton supervisor.

"She knows municipal government," Slaughter said. "She knows the pitfalls, she knows what can happen. This is no time for amateurs."

Bronson, a former Monroe County legislator, said that experience will be necessary to turn county government around. Republicans have misrepresented the county's financial state, he said, and produced budgets that rely on inflated revenues and one-shots. As Brighton supervisor, Frankel put together solid budgets while dealing with state mandates, he said. She'll do that as county executive "with fairness and a sense of equity," Bronson said.

Frankel faces Republican Cheryl Dinolfo and Green Party candidate Rajesh Barnabas in the November election.
