At 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Monroe County Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) will hold a public hearing on a tax incentive package for Hart’s Local Grocers, the new grocery store opening in downtown Rochester this spring.

Hart’s will be located at 10 Winthrop Street – in the former Craig Autometrics building – in the city’s East End. During a press conference last month, store representatives said Hart’s will sell affordable, local, and sustainably produced food.

The company behind Hart’s, Rochester Local Capital LLC, plans to spend approximately $3.7 million to renovate and equip the building. It’s seeking approximately $145,000 in mortgage, property, and sales tax exemptions.

The hearing will be held in the conference room of the Ebenezer Watts Building, 49 South Fitzhugh Street.
The COMIDA board’s monthly meeting will follow the hearing, and the members will likely vote on the Hart’s incentives at that time. – Jeremy Moule

The county’s Charter Review Committee is holding a public input session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gates Town Hall, 1605 Buffalo Road.

The committee is reviewing the laws that lay out how county government is organized and how it operates. Members’ initial proposals include several tweaks to the charter, mostly focusing on wording changes, position title changes, or alterations recognizing new technology. But others are more substantial, such as a recommendation to consider replacing the Civil Service Commission with a personnel director.
