Xerox will expand its Webster toner plant, with the help of taxpayer-funded incentives.

Empire State Development, the state's economic development agency, announced Xerox's decision via press release yesterday afternoon. The company was considering several locations for the plant, though Webster was the only US site on the list.

Xerox plans to invest $5 million to expand the building and $30 million on new equipment. Company officials have said that the expansion would create the equivalent of 25 full-time jobs.

The project will receive a $500,000 grant from Empire State Development, says the agency's press release. The funds will be conditioned on job creation. The agency also announced that the plant will get grants from Rochester Gas and Electric to aid in the construction of power infrastructure, though the press release doesn't say how large those grants will be.

Last month, the Monroe County Industrial Development Agency awarded Xerox sales and property tax breaks worth approximately $441,500 over the next 10 years.
