Pittsford village candidates forum set

by

The Village of Pittsford election campaigns have been intense. Voters head to the polls in a couple of weeks, but before that, the local League of Women Voters chapter will hold a candidates forum. The event is from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on March 13, at Pittsford Sutherland High School, 55 Sutherland Drive. All candidates will be present, says a League press release.

Longtime village Mayor Bob Corby is seeking re-election, facing a challenge from Trip Pierson. Corby, a registered Republican, has the Democratic and Conservative endorsements and is running on the Pittsford Village United line. Pierson has the Republican Party's backing.

Four candidates are running for two trustee seats. Leslie Buck and Christopher Linares are running on the Republican, Conservative, and No to 75 Monroe lines. Linda Lanphear and Stacey Freed are running on the Democratic and Pittsford Village United lines.

Election day is March 19 and this year's campaigns are more heated than they've been in the past, largely due to a controversial proposal to build an apartment complex at 75 Monroe Avenue. City's account of the race can be found here.
