First Friday offerings for April 3
The weather’s gorgeous, but won’t last. Maximize it tonight with a little art trek. Here are a couple of suggestions, but you can check out more options at firstfridayrochester.org.
Rochester Contemporary, 137 East Avenue, celebrates bike culture with “Ride It: Art and Bicycles,” which runs from April 3 through May 15. It feature a diverse exploration of bike art, culture, and history, with projects by Cordell Cordaro, Jon Schull, Trevor Raab, Genesee Center for the Arts & Education, Rochester Bicycle Film Festival, Rochester Public Library, and University of Rochester River Campus Libraries.
An opening reception takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight, featuring an 8 p.m. performance by One Dance Co. and food trikes offering goodies from Hart’s Local Grocers and Eat Me. Admission is $1, but free to members or anyone arriving on two wheels (a bike valet service will be on hand).
An artists’ talk will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.

Joe Bean Coffee Roasters, 1344 University Avenue, Suite 110, continues its “Intersect” series from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight with a reception for its second installation, featuring artists who interpret our region through a variety of media.
This round’s selection of artists includes Chad Grohman (acrylic paintings), Lanna Pejovic (oil paintings), Phyllis Bryce Ely (pastels), and George Wallace (panorama photographs). The show will remain on view for three months. Learn more by calling (585) 319-5279 or visiting joebeanroasters.com.
